At Mary Immaculate Preschool, we believe “Playing is learning!” Our children learn through teacher-directed, self-initiated activities, and learning centers. These hands-on learning experiences support areas of literacy, math, fine and gross motor skills, social and emotional development, and self-help skills.
In addition, formal religious education is an essential part of our curriculum. Our children learn to know God, Mother Mary, the Saints, through the “Catechesis of the Good Shepherd” and weekly visits to the convent chapel. In the chapel, our children learn their basic prayers and, more importantly, become aware of God’s loving presence. In the atrium, our children continue to encounter and deepen their relationship with God in and through doing meaningful work. Contemplating on the Church’s liturgical seasons and the parables of the Kingdom of God are just some of the many themes that our children have the opportunity to delve in within our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd faith formation program.
We have a great love of and appreciation for culture at our school. Preparing our students for the multilingual-multicultural world and helping them to learn the necessity of valuing and respecting other cultures is important. We immerse our students in enriching, fun-filled, culturally diverse activities, especially those related to Vietnamese traditions. Some highlights of the year include our annual Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival, Tết/Lunar New Year Festival, Thanksgiving Celebration, Christmas Pageant, All Saints Day, and Easter Egg Hunt.
